The Holland Harbor Lighthouse, affectionately known as "Big Red," is an iconic symbol of Holland, Michigan, and a must-see for any visitor. Boat tours also offer a unique perspective of the lighthouse from the water. While you can't typically go inside the lighthouse, its exterior beauty and historical significance are more than enough to make it a worthwhile destination. While not directly related to the lighthouse, Holland's Dutch heritage influences the local culinary scene, with options like Dutch pastries and traditional comfort food available in nearby restaurants.
Transportation
To reach Big Red, the easiest way is to drive to Holland State Park. Parking is available, but it can get crowded, especially during the summer months. Alternatively, you can take the Macatawa Area Express (MAX) Route 6 to Holland State Park. From there, it's a short walk to the pier where you can view the lighthouse.
